Board of Trustees

Our Board of Trustees is a powerful team of women who have a strong and direct love for Nature and passion
for supporting programs that empower women.

Barbara Blake of Woodland Park, Colorado, has been working as a Psychotherapist and Spiritual Director
for over 30 years and is an accomplished mixed-media Artist. Her goal to have her clients access their own
inner wisdom as they move toward healing. She also leads creativity groups based on the book The Artist's
Way. Creativity, the environment and women's issues have guided her work. Seeing the divine in Nature
inspires her paintings and her concern for Mother Earth. Her hobbies include hiking in Nature, kayaking and
biking.


Mary Shipsey Gunn joined the David and Lucile Packard Foundation in 1995. She is currently program
manager based in Pueblo, Colorado. Mary manages a responsive community-focused program that makes
grants to benefit residents of Pueblo County, Colorado, the birthplace of David Packard. Prior to joining the
Foundation, Mary worked for the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. Mary is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate
of Santa Clara University. She has completed graduate coursework in counseling psychology from John F.
Kennedy University, and will begin a Masters program at Regis University in the fall of 2010.


Dr.Christine Nevin-Woods is a mother of 4 young adults, grandmother, osteopathic physician, serves on
the Colorado Board of Health and is the Director of the Pueblo City-County Health Department in Pueblo,
Colorado. Her dedication to family health is reflected by her active involvement in community projects that
support smoke-free eating environments, educating readers through her regular column in the Pueblo
Chieftain on healthy living, and more.




Executive Director

HWHE is proud to have Dave Van Manen as our executive director. He will oversee the project, write grants
and bring his non-profit expertise to the development of the program and funding.

Dave Van Manen has been working in the field of education, with both children and adults, for over thirty
years. Dave is Founder and Director of the Mountain Park Environmental Center, a 501c3 non-profit
environmental education organization dedicated to supporting children (and adults) to have direct
experiences in Nature. Dave's background includes being a nationally known children's musician with a
specialty in environmental music and storytelling. He is the 2008 Recipient of The Enos Mills Lifetime
Achievement Award for Environmental Educator of the Year by the Colorado Alliance for Environmental
Education.

Dave has been a resident of the town of Beulah for 30+ years, where he and his wife Helene raised their two
children. He now spends as much time as he can find teach his grandchildren, Jude and Scarlett the local
plants including the Latin names. He is the author of Plants of Pueblo Mountain Park, a field guide to the flora
of mid-elevation sites of Colorado's southeastern mountains.

EarthWoman, our flagship program, will launch 2010 and is designed to give women a year long opportunity to set goals for
restoring their health through the retreat and coaching process.
